  • Get to know and hear other outstanding singer/songwriters.
  • Claim resume bragging rights that you were a finalist or winner of the first annual SING YOUR SONG competition at HIGH NOTE JAM.

General SING YOUR SONG Contest Rules:

  • Limit of 3 entries per person. An entry is 2 songs. All compositions must have been written within the last two years (after March 2011).
  • Open to males and females ages 15 and over.
  • Recordings submitted must be representative of the artist's live performance. The finalist phase screening panel prefers recordings that use one instrument, the songwriter's vocal, and no backup harmonies. If this is not possible, produced submission tracks are allowed.
  • Artist name, biographical information, and credits are not to be included on the recordings.
  • Lyrics are not required for initial submissions. Selected finalists, however, will be required to submit song lyrics.
  • The submission of the entry certifies that the songwriter has all rights to the songs and that the songs have not been sold or contractually assigned to another entity.
  • Songs that have been previously recorded and released under contract on a label (commercial, independent, or vanity) are not eligible.
  • Only one name can appear on the application. Duos or groups may not submit entries. Songs can be co-written, however, and submitted by one of the songwriters.
  • Each song is not to exceed 5 minutes.
  • All tracks should be recorded in mp3 format.
  • Performances on contest night by the finalists are limited to one songwriter/vocalist who must perform the selected submitted track as determined by the screening panel.
  • The finalist may provide pre-recorded instrumentation (with no backup harmonies/effects) or perform with a single accompanist.
  • Each finalist must perform at HIGH NOTE JAM on the day of the SING YOUR SONG contest, Thursday, May 2, 2013.
