Summary

Atomic Mouse Recordings is a small Chicago-based label that sprang out of the DIY music resources offered by DV Polymedia, inc.



The Sound In A Vacuum series is a tool for the promotion (and cross-promotion) of odd and interesting recordings that might otherwise slip through the cracks. We are now calling for submissions for our third "Sound In A Vacuum" compilation CD. There is a minimum of 3 slots guaranteed to Sonicbids users, but we expect to use more (we used 10 Sonicbids submissions on volume two). This series of compilations is designed to draw attention to a variety of artists/recordings in a compact way. It is a "soft-sell" item, focusing on the serendipity of discovery rather than hype.



All genres will be considered. We like a wide range of music and we think most people like a range of music. That said, we lean toward Americana (especially in its post-punk form), humorous Singer-Songwriters, Experimental and Electronica, and music made by generally weird people. We tend to be more interested in things that transcend rather than typify genre.



This disc is for promotional purposes. Selected artists will be given 8 copies of the finished CD (additional units available to the artist at $2/unit). In the unlikely event the CD goes into additional pressings as a retail-oriented item, profit sharing will be established for the artists (a 50% net share distributed equally between the artists). The possibility of secondary opportunities also exist. For example, artists on Volume One have appeared at AMR-produced showcases.



This is NOT a pay-for-placement scam. We respect the use of your material! Cover songs will only be considered if the performing artist pays the cost of the associated mechanical royalties for the promotional pressing (roughly $100).



Sound in a Vacuum, Volume 3 will be distributed primarily to press and industry types, but also generally to anyone we think should hear it. CDs will also be used in all levels of label giveaways and promotions. A portion will be commercially available at a budget price.
