Summary

SLG Publishing's Art Boutiki & Gallery is San Jose's swankiest spot for comic books, graphic novels and cool stuff. It is looking to book solo artists and bands to perform live on 2-3 nights per month. SLG Publishing's Art Boutiki & Gallery welcomes alternative, indie rock, jazz and spoken word artists (please no hip hop or punk submissions).

Selected artists receive:

  • Artists will be compensated with a split of the door and ticket sales. This amount will be negotiated at the time of booking.

  • Artists can sell their merchandise and keep 100% of the profits.

  • A recording of a bands performance ($60). The recording will be for a standard 30-40 minute set with minimal editing.
  • A 30-45 minute set.

  • A sound and lighting system and a sound engineer will be provided at the venue, but artists are responsible for bringing their own instruments and any additional equipment.

The SLG Art Boutiki may ask bands and performers that book with them to sign a waiver or form stating that they either own or have the rights to perform all of the music in their set. The Art Boutiki does not book bands whose set is primarily comprised of covers.

The Art Boutiki is the home of SLG Publishing, a comics and graphic novel publisher, and is primarily a warehouse and distribution center with a small gallery space in front (capacity 235). Since they are not a bar or restaurant they depend on a cut of ticket sales to make hosting shows worth their time. Everyone working in the place cares about music and wants its performers to have a good time playing at what it lovingly calls The Big Rock Show. The venue will be both one of the cooler and odder places to play, and artists and their fans will have a great time.
