Summary
The Ontario Council of Folk Festivals (OCFF) is pleased to present the Songs From the Heart Songwriter Awards. Now in its 12th year, this event highlights the talents of Ontario songwriters and provides an opportunity for the winners to showcase their work for Festival Presenters.
This contest is only open to the residents of ONTARIO. The Songs From The Heart is a juried process. Our jury will select one winner in English and one in French, where each will receive a Galaxie Rising Star Award of $1,000, registration for the annual OCFF conference for one person, and an invitation to showcase at the 20th Annual OCFF Conference in Ottawa, October 12-15, 2006. Prizes of $100 will be awarded to the winners selected in each of the 7 categories: Political, Humorous, Instrumental, Children's, Historical, Blues and World (including languages other that English and French).
In addition, the top ten songs, not including the Rising Star Award winners, will be passed on to a separate jury which will select the winner of the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award of $1,000 and registration for the 2006 OCFF Conference.
