Summary

Songwriters At Play! is a series of showcases hosted by Steve Key, featuring performances by top local talent from California's Central Coast, and touring professional singer-songwriters. They are looking to book local and touring solo artists and bands to perform live on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays (depending on the location). Each show is a mix of local and touring acts, mainly solos but some bands. Each show has one featured act with 5-6 unpaid guest performers. The featured act is expected to draw at least 20-30 guests./n/nSongwriters At Play! is a series of showcases hosted by Steve Key, featuring performances by top local talent from California's Central Coast, and touring professional singer-songwriters. They are looking to book local and touring solo artists and bands to perform live on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays (depending on the location). Songwriters at Play welcomes mostly Singer-Songwriter, but also books blues, country, instrumental, jazz, bluegrass, traditional folk, and other closely related genres. Each show is a mix of local and touring acts, mainly solos but some bands. Each show has one featured act with 5-6 unpaid guest performers. The featured act is expected to draw at least 20-30 guests.


Here’s what selected artists get:


  • The Featured Artists will be compensated by audience tips and merchandise sales.

  • Guest performers usually play 4-5 songs, while the featured artists plays a 45 minute set.

  • Artists will be provided with PA, Mic and Cables.

Songwriters at Play takes places on three different nights of the week, depending on the location. Submitting artists will be ask to select a preference from the following:

  • Kreuzberg, San Luis Obispo: Tuesdays

  • The Porch, Santa Margarita: Thursdays

  • Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo: Sundays


The Porch is a 50 capacity venue with a great small-town vibe. Sculpterra Winery is a 100 outdoor, 50 indoor capacity right in the middle of Paso Robles’ booming wine country. Kreuzberg has a capacity of 75 and is the newest addition to the Songwriters at Play series.
