Summary

Souled Out Coffeehouse and Summer Concerts, which takes place at Rhawnhurst Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, is seeking artists to perform throughout the year. Events are held once a month on the last Friday of each month, except for May, November and December (or whenever there is a Holiday conflict) when they re-schedule so that their events are held the Friday before the Holiday. Their coffeehouse, now in its 10th year, is open from October through May from 7:30 til 10:00 pm. The summer concert series is held June through September from 7:00 til 9:00 pm.

Since this is a ministry and not a club or profit-making business entity, they impose no cover charge but do take up a free-will offering for the artists and permit them to solicit and sell any merchandise they have as well as promote their up-coming shows. If lodging is needed, it may be possible to arrange for artists to stay with a host family or book accommodations at an affiliate “bed and breakfast” at a discounted rate. The “B & B” can also provide transportation to and from their local airport, bus terminal, or train station at a reasonable cost. A meal can be arranged, if discussed ahead of time, and the artists are always welcome to join them afterward at a local diner for their traditional “afterglow” fellowship.

Though they want their attendee's to be entertained in a professional, family-friendly, wholesome manner, The Souled Out Coffeehouse and Summer Concert Series is a ministry designed to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. All Artists/Bands must be completely “Christ-Centered” and sing/play music and lyrics which exemplifies this, leads others to Christ as well as glorifies God. Therefore, they only book Contemporary Christian Bands/Artists who perform original and cover material (including modern worship music) that falls into the following musical styles: Rock (Except Heavy Metal, Grunge, Punk and anything containing primal screams), Pop, Alternative, Acoustic, Adult Contemporary, Progressive, Jazz, Latin (provided at least some of the lyrics are sung in English), Gospel, R&B, Ska, Contemporary Country, and A Capella. Additionally, for their Summer Concert Series they will also consider limited amounts of: Holy Hip-hop, Rap, and Hard Rock (including Metal, but nothing containing primal screams)

They provide a complete sound system AND experienced engineer which includes House Speakers, 4 Monitor Speakers, 4 direct boxes, 4 vocal mics (EV ND757’s), 2 instrument mics (I Shure SM57 and 1 AT condenser), 16 channels of analog sound capacity with reverb and a total of 1300 watts of power (more than enough to fill the room they are in). They also provide very basic stage lighting at this time and encourage bands/artists who own their own lighting to bring them along.

Note: Artists/Bands MUST use their in-house sound equipment and engineer unless discussed and arranged beforehand. No exceptions! Thanks for your cooperation. They look forward to serving you.
