Now in its sixth season, these professionally recognized retreats are held around the country four times each year. The Songwriter's Soul Kitchen is offering one Sonicbids artist a paid scholarship to the workshop, held December 9th to 12th, 2010 in Keene, NH. The scholarship includes full tuition, room and board. The winner is required to pay travel expenses to Keene (Brattleboro, VT train or Manchester, NH or Boston, MA air).

During each retreat, a collective of 20-25 singers, producers, musicians, and writers are invited to the Soul Kitchen to work on their craft. A Soul Kitchen participant will be immersed in a creative environment where all participants work together by writing, producing and recording original work. Participants will be joined by Vinx, the Soul Kitchen staff of producers, and industry notables. Exercises occur in large and small groups and the special industry guests are personally involved in each workshop. The weekend thrives on a relaxed yet structured setting where artists will write, cook, eat, drink, create, chill, record, sing and play as a collective. Interspersed among the writing workshops are sessions devoted to the business aspects of performing and songwriting that include guest speakers from legal, publishing and management fields.

What happens when artists submit?

A panel of industry experts that support the Songwriter Soul Kitchen, will review each and every submission. Once the panel has chosen the scholarship recipient, they will respond personally to all applicants. If an artist is not selected for this retreat, the Songwriter Soul Kitchen is offering a $100 discount toward the cost of any of their upcoming retreats. Please know that they accept all levels of development so artists should not hesitate to apply.
