Summary

SoundClash presented by NOW Magazine is Harbourfront Centre's Music Award in which Toronto's hottest independent artists will showcase for $10,000. They are welcoming diverse, contemporary and cutting edge music forms that span across genres and music with digitally inspired elements. Artists who are based in the Greater Toronto area, and whose music is innovative, interesting and involving multimedia are encouraged to submit to this opportunity./n/nSoundClash presented by NOW Magazine is Harbourfront Centre's Music Award in which Toronto's hottest independent artists will showcase for $10,000.  They are welcoming diverse, contemporary and cutting edge music forms that span across genres and music with digitally inspired elements. Artists who are based in the Greater Toronto area, and whose music is innovative, interesting and involving multimedia are encouraged to submit to this opportunity.


Eligibility:


  • Artist(s) in question must be local, Greater Toronto Area, residents including the following regional municipalities: Durham, Halton, Peel, and York

  • Applicants and nominees must be completely independent with no attachment to major labels

  • Artist(s) should be available to perform during the month of July

To be considered, artists must have 3 songs or a link to a website with a variety of listening options. A shortlist will be determined by a jury and posted on the opportunity's website.  The shortlisted artists will receive a performance slot at one of Harbourfront Centre's festivals in July. The final winners receiving the award will be determined based on a combination of jury selections and public votes



Prizes:


  • 1st place will receive $5,000

  • 2nd place will receive $3,000
  • 3rd place will receive $2,000

  • Gifts in kind

From its beginnings as “Harbourfront Corporation”, a federal Crown Corporation established in 1972, Harbourfront Centre was formed on January 1, 1991 as a non- profit charitable organization with a mandate to organize and present public events and to operate a 10-acre site encompassing York Quay and John Quay (south of Queens Quay West).
