Summary

Southern California Underground (SCU) is a dynamic business providing opportunity for up-and-coming bands to get noticed in the music industry and the community at large. This competition was designed as a platform for serious artists to be seen and heard. It is run like no other battle of the bands competition in the world, expecting to reel in close to 1,000 attendees.

At least two (2) sonicbids bands will be selected as finalists and have a portion of their audition fee waived. Meaning, there will be a $90.00 fee, instead of $100. The first place winner will receive $5,000 and 10 hours of recording time at Atlantis Group.

Why a fee?

SCU knows how important it is for Bands to generate new fans, network with industry,receive publicity and keep the cash flow coming in while pursuing your music. That's why BAND SLAM 2010 was created. To help musicians take control of their careers. However, SCU is not a corporate company with huge funding sources. Your fee is helping to pay for venue costs, industry travel, and advertising for all participating bands. We don't like the old "pay to play model" and that is why for your fee you also receive: an album photo cover shoot, individual meeting with media and image consultants, VIP passes to main event and promotional booth to network with industry. Their is also no presell and judging is based on talent not how many fans a band can bring to the show. This event is a your typical Battle. It was created for you and by you.



Prizes:

1st Place

  • $5,000 cash

  • 10 hours of recording studio time

  • A media package worth $10,000

  • A photo shoot wot $2500 dollars

2nd Place

  • $1,000 cash

3rd Place

  • $500 cash


This competition, which will be held in August, was made for bands who are ready to compete on a professional level. Bands will build awareness and fans, walk the red-carpet, have pictures in the press, receive start up funds, recording studio time and more.

Here's how it works:


1. Serious bands submit their demos to SCU through Sonicbids.

2. SCU will select bands to audition live. All bands auditioning will perform 2 songs and be judged by top music professionals.

3. 30 bands will make it to the semi-finals and perform 1 new and 1 previous song for the judges.

4. The 10 bands having the best score will be showcased at the Main Event and compete to win prizes and the Underground "Band of the Year" Award.

5. The Main Event is open to the public. At the Event, 90% of each band's score is determined by the judges while 10% is audience votes.
