Southwest Records

Southwest Records is a newly formed record label based in San Diego, California. Genres of music they are interested in include: Gospel, Hip Hop/Rap, Holy Hip Hop, Reggae, and Urban R & B. Currently, the labels roster has four permanent members as well as a larger group of affiliated artists who contribute to individual tracks.



The first major strength of Southwest Records is the capability of their in-house production team. If you are signed to the label, you will be provided with first class beats and production. Another major strength of the label is their partnership with Pacific Records. Through this partnership, they are able to utilize existing contacts and assets to assist artists on the Southwest label. These assets include Concert Promotion, Music Video Production, Manufacturing of Merchandise, Access to a Full Service Commercial Recording Studio, Industry Contacts, Legal Assistance, and CD Duplication.



Southwest Records' artists are able to attend the NAMM conference (in Anaheim, CA) which is the biggest music industry trade show in the world, as well as ASCAP conventions and the ASR Trade Show. Furthermore, through Southwest Records contacts they are able to get the music of their artists played in clubs around the country including California, New York, Georgia, Virginia, Texas, Hawaii, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Finally, if your record is doing well enough, they do have the capability to nationally distribute it.



Compensation for artists can be negotiated, but at the very least expect all of the assets mentioned in the second paragraph of this summary. Royalties for artists are usually based on the standard rate, but again, are negotiable.



This is an excellent opportunity for unsigned artists to get in with an up and coming label. Their relationship with Pacific Records gives Southwest Records the guidance of a label that’s been around for years, but at the same time let’s them build something special from the ground up. The first official Southwest Records Release will be Preezy F’s yet to be titled album, which hits the streets on April 24th, 2007. The other permanent artists on our label are John Roberts, J- Savage, and DSB.



Finally, Southwest Records promises that when you submit your EPK it will be thoroughly reviewed and never dismissed without a fair chance.
