Finalists will be determined by a panel of judges consisting of industry experts. Submissions are being accepted for both the Del Mar festival running May 28th-30th and the Monterey festival taking place July 1st-3rd.

For the selected finalists, the finals showcase and competition performance will be held live at the festival, at the C28 alternative stage and the Rally’s for Christ Stage and open to the public. Each finalist (band, instrument accompaniment or track) will be given 10 minutes playing time - enough time for two songs. This will be strictly enforced.

The Grand Prize Winner and Runner-up from the finals will be given the opportunity to perform two songs on the Main or Alternative stage (festival’s choice of stage based on style).

The Grand Prize Winner will also be invited to move on to perform at the national finals in Nashville later this year (date is not known at this time). Artist will be responsible for all cost associated with traveling to the finals in Nashville. The national winner will receive a development contract with Word Records.

Backline gear will be provided and contestants are required to use only what is available (special gear will not be allowed).

Submissions will be rated based on the following:

  • Culturally Relevant: In order to effectively translate the Gospel to the next generation, the music and its message must be capable of reaching its audience at a heart, mind and soul level.

  • Artistically Excellent: We, as the body of Christ, are called by God to be excellent (1Thessalonians 4:1). The festival's standards for artistic quality are, therefore, consistent with this expectation.

  • Spiritually Significant: These festivals were created to bring glory to God and God alone. They depend on the artists to challenge the attendees to seek Him on a personal level.

  • Scripturally Sound. While they do not require or expect the lyrics of our artists' music to be taken directly from scripture, they do expect that all messages are consistent with God's plan for our lives, as described in Holy Scripture.

Please note: Finalist/entrants will not be allowed to sell merchandise on site and will be responsible for all their cost associated with getting to and from the festival including transportation, meals and lodging (camping is available at the regular price).
