Summary

The deadline is coming soon to submit to Standon Calling, an annual three day party of music, art and camping. The festival has hosted some of the biggest bands while they were still relatively unknown, such as Florence and the Machine, Friendly Fires, Mumford and Sons and the Noisettes and is reserving 1 slot for Sonicbids artists to play alongside other talented, emerging artists. The festival has hosted some of the biggest bands while they were still relatively unknown, such as Florence and the Machine, Friendly Fires, Mumford and Sons and the Noisettes and is reserving 1 slot for Sonicbids artists to play alongside other talented, emerging artists. Selected acts will be provided with catering and festival wristbands (additional compensation is negotiable). Standon Calling is held near the beautiful village of Standon, approximately 30 miles north of London. Capped at just 5,000 people it's almost impossible to enjoy as intimate a festival experience as Standon Calling.

Standon Calling started with just 25 friends, a swimming pool, a set of decks and a birthday BBQ. Having grown by word-of-mouth over the years, while it has grown significantly bigger since those days, the festival has retained its home-grown ethos and commitment to championing new artists. This year two of the former performing artists won Brits and in 2009 more than half of the Mercury Awards nominees had previously played Standon Calling.

Confirmed acts for 2011 so far include Spiritualized, Battles, Saul Williams, Errors, Trophy Wife, Raghu Dixit, Born Ruffians

When the live music’s over, the festival coordinators take full advantage of the festival's 6am licence, as DJs and various other performers take over the now infamous nightclub in a cowshed. As befits the UK’s only nightclub in a festival it seems to keep getting nominated for various dance awards.

But Standon Calling is about much more than just the music and they're keen to support interesting artists of all ilks, be they painters, sculptors, writers, actors, comedians or even chefs. A different theme takes over the event each year, reflected in the interactive theatre, art installations, set designs, and outrageous outfits its guests dream up.
