Summary

The Stan Rogers Folk Festival is an international folk music festival taking place in Canso, Nova Scotia. Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2006, the festival presents more than 55 artists/groups in an exciting six stage format. The festival takes place on the first weekend in July each year and this year’s dates are June 30, July 1 and 2, 2006.

As a songwriter’s festival, "Stanfest" presents a wide variety of genres including traditional folk, country, bluegrass, gospel, jazz, world etc. Past performers have included Guy Clark, Eric Bogle, Bruce Cockburn, Archie Fisher, Shooglenifty, Fairport Convention, Bill Staines, Charlie Major, Chip Taylor, Martin Sexton, Eliza Gilkyson, James Keelaghan, and hundreds of other great artists. Compensation for selected artists is negotiated upon selection.

The festival takes place in a small community of 900 people. Do the math. Community of 900, 50 acts and 10,000 people. This is a camping festival. There are very few hotel rooms. Artists are housed in a number of ways. Mostly this includes billeting and the use of a dormitory style facility affectionately known as "Camp Stan".
