The Steel Bridge Songfest is an annual volunteer community historic outreach event that is now largest Americana songwriter showcase in the Midwest./n/nThe Steel Bridge Songfest is an annual volunteer community historic outreach event that is now largest Americana songwriter showcase in the Midwest.

Sonicbids artists from the singer/songwriter, Americana and folk-related genres are encouraged to submit for a chance to perform at the three-day festival. The event mixes major speakers in Historic Preservation with songwriters of national and regional prominence who display a strong affinity for social responsibility and historic preservation.




In addition to promoting community activism, increasing community economic impact and promoting historic preservation, the festival's purpose is to raise local, state and national awareness of the Michigan Street Bridge through original songs written, inspired by the bridge and volunteer public performances.

2010 performers included: Jackson Browne, Jane Wiedlin (the Go-Go’s), Victor DeLorenzo (Violent Femmes), Pat MacDonald (Timbuk3), Adam Mackintosh, Charles Boheme, Alex Shah, Andrea Wittgens, Andy Lubahn, Mike Bleck, and more.


Artists that perform at the festival do so as a donation to the festival and the cause, as this is a 100% voltuneer-run organization.
