Summary

St. Elmo’s Coffe Pub is the community gathering place for the neighborhood of Del Ray in Alexandria, VA. The capacity is roughly 50, average attendance is anywhere from 10-30, and artists are provided $25-50 compensation, plus on site food/beverages.

They’re looking for folk, jazz, blues, pop, country, and world music. Bands with 6 or fewer members can be accommodated. Amplification is allowed, but St. Elmo’s does not provide any equipment. Unfortunately, St. Elmo’s can not host artists with drums kits.

Primarily local artists are booked, but they have booked touring artists as well. Live music is programmed Wednesday-Saturday, and they normally host one artist per evening. Bookings are done 4-6 months in advance, so please plan accordingly. St. Elmo’s sends out a musical calendar to local papers; artists are on their own to promote their specific show.

St. Elmo's is an eclectic, laid-back place best compared with the coffee house on the show "Friends.” They are best suited for acoustic artists, though they have had quite the variety of music/musicians play there. Nora Partlow and her former business partner Scott Mitchell opened St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub in April of 1996.
