Step to the Mic - Best in the West Competition

Step to the Mic is a talent competition looking for R&B, Pop, Soul, Hip-Hop, Holy Hip-Hop, Gospel, Jazz and Neo Soul artists who want to be in the “Best in the West” competition or artists who would just like to showcase at a Step to the Mic show. Please no Gangsta Rappers



We have the bi-weekly competition in Costa Mesa and Hollywood. When you submit, let us know what show you would like to be in. The average attendance is 200 to 700 people.



For Best of the West Competition winners, prizes include $1000 in pro audio or recording equipment, $500.00 cash, studio recording time, your music played on the radio, and a Grammy-winning producer to check out your demo.



Judges include A&R staff from Capitol Records and Eleven Records, as well as a Grammy-winning producer we work with.



Those artists chosen to perform are required to participate in a ticket purchase for the “Step to the Mic” show. There are two ticket prices: (20) tickets @ $10.00 for $200.00, this includes a 2 song/ 7 minute maximum performance or (50) tickets @ $7.50 for $375.00, this includes a 20 minute prime time performance spot, sound check and your name/photo on 10,000 promotional flyers that we pay for and distribute.
