Summary

Stereogum was recently honored with the Music Blog of
the Year Award at the 2008 Plug Awards and has been widely credited as a tastemaker in the music community.

Stereogum is a music website created by Scott Lapatine in 2003. Updated daily, the site features fully legal mp3 downloads, video premieres, artist tour dates, concert reviews, and music-related news and gossip. Weekly columns include Band to Watch (past honorees include Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Lily Allen, and Beirut), Video Hangover (in which writer Jon McMillan mocks music videos of yesteryear), Premature Evaluation (knee-jerk reviews of leaked pre-release LPs), and Quit Your Day Job (in which writer Branden Stosuy interviews rising artists about how they make ends meet).

In August of 2007, Stereogum launched The 'Gum Drop, a weekly e-mail newsletter that premieres one never-before-released mp3 and also heralds a sweepstakes where they give away cool stuff like electronics, boxed sets, and limited-edition artist merchandise. Each month, one artist will be selected to appear in the Sonicbids' sponsored area of the 'Gum Drop newsletter. With over 650,000 unique readers each month, this is a one of a kind avenue for exposure! Submit for your chance to be selected for the June 2008 Newsletter.
