At the third annual event in 2009, it featured 120 modern makers from across the country. The 2010 event is expected to draw more than 15,000 people.

Strange Folk is looking for alternative and indie bands to play throughout the weekend. No folk or classic rock submissions please, as the festival is strictly interested in indie bands. There are at least 6 performance slots available. Artists keep 100% of merch sales, and compensation is negotiable. Strange Folk is a craft fair run by a grassroots organization. They are mainly looking for local and regional acts, and they cannot provide additional compensation for travel expenses.

Strange Folk’s vendors offer merchandise with aesthetics ranging from retro, pretty, punk, urban, and everything in between. All in price ranges that make it possible for anyone to afford a one-of-a-kind handmade creation. Plenty of eco-friendly craft activities and exhibits are a hallmark of this show as well. Strange Folk hosts a variety of food and drink options too, including coffee and vegetarian fare. For a list of bands who played in 2008, please go to Strangefolkfestival.com

Please note: The festival is a family event with plenty of children around. So, as long as you don't cuss too obviously or scream bloody murder, you'll fit in just fine.
