South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference and Festival takes place every March alongside SXSW Film and Interactive.

Now in its 30th year, SXSW Music has been one of the largest, most influential and anticipated annual events worldwide for over a quarter of a century. In 2015, over 2,200 acts showcased, nearly 600 of which were international acts, representing 62 different countries. These artists had the opportunity to perform for over 30,000 industry attendees, including almost 3,000 media representatives and thousands of fans. A total of 30,308 participants from 78 countries attended the Music Conference in 2015, continuing a tradition of growing in culture and quantity.

Television crews, filmmakers, radio programmers, music magazine journalists, newspaper writers, podcasters and hundreds of independent bloggers will be in Austin reporting on every facet of the festival and laying claim to having heard the next big act before anyone else, creating opportunities for media exposure through hundreds of national and international media outlets.

From unsigned bands to indie and major label headliners, SXSW continues to be the premier music event that sets the tone and direction of the industry by introducing the hottest new talent, and showcasing the new directions and sounds of the most important musical acts in the world, while providing an ideal environment for bands to learn from and meet the music industry professionals that can help them further their careers.

You will need a major credit card to check out at the end of the application process if you are signing up for Sonicbids and submitting to SXSW. If you are an existing Sonicbids member, the credit card in your account will be charged. Once you have completed your application, you must complete your Sonicbids EPK or make sure it is up-to-date with your most current, relevant and important information, if you haven't already. Make sure to include updated mp3s, photos, bio, press, tour dates, etc. Please update this information on a regular basis for a more complete and immediate evaluation.

Ensure that the Primary Contact is someone with frequent communication with the applying act and a frequently checked email address. This email address is where SXSW will send all notifications.

All applicants will be notified of showcase status no later than January 22, 2016. Due to the large number of applications, we ask that you do not call the SXSW offices to inquire about status. Our goal is to notify all international applicants by the end of the year. If selected to showcase, acts will be compensated in the form of a cash payment or artist wristbands. Acts that perform multiple showcases will be compensated for only one showcase.

You do not need to purchase a registration badge to apply for or to perform at a SXSW showcase. Artists will be able to purchase registration badges at the lowest registration rate after notification of status, if they choose to do so. There are no refunds if you purchase a registration at a higher rate, or decide not to attend if you are not offered a showcase.
