The Opportunity
For 28 years, over 100 artists from across the Yukon, Northwestern Territories and Nunavut gather 200kms above the Arctic Circle in the remote community of Inuvik, to participate in the largest visual arts festival in the North. Over a period of 10 days in July, artists and performers show and market their work, meet other artists and learn about other art forms. This celebration highlights the best arts and culture that the North has to offer.
The only festival of its kind, the Great Northern Arts Festival features two stages for performers. This vibrant festival has featured bands, storytellers, singer/songwriters, circus performers, dancers, and everything in between. The Gallery stage is located in their world-class art gallery and features acoustic sets during the afternoons, while the Main Stage, located in the Community Hall, provides a bigger venue for nightly entertainment.
The Band
- Open to a wide variety of genres
- Preference will be given to artists with a connection to the Arctic; if you have a uniquely Northern act or are just enthusiastic about visiting
