The Herndon Festival is booking 8 Sonicbids artists for the 37th annual festival. Compensation is negotiable.

The Opportunity

Now in its 37th year, the Herndon Festival is a well established tradition in Northern Virginia. It is the largest free and open to the public music and entertainment festival in Northern Virginia, averaging an attendance of 80,000 people.

The festival is held in picturesque historic downtown Herndon on the first weekend after Memorial Day; opening on Thursday evening and running through Sunday. Features include a craft show, two fireworks displays, a business expo, carnival, great food, and 3 stages of musical entertainment.

The Herndon Festival is looking for bands in two categories: The Rising Star Showcase Stage and The Cafe Stage. Please read the description of each below so that you can be sure that you are submitting to the correct opportunity for you. All Sonicbids submitting artists may also be considered for the Herndon Labor Day Festival as well.

The Band

Rising Star Showcase Stage:

  • Up and coming bands from Northern VA and DC Metro area
  • Local area draw is necessary
  • Will be kept to a 15 minute turn time
  • Work on regional college campuses is a plus
  • Majority of music must be original
  • Must be able to perform 45 minute set
  • Must be able to provide own accommodations if needed
  • Up to date calendar with touring dates
Cafe Stage:
  • Singer-Songwriter Trio, quartet, quintet format necessary
  • Original music
  • Acoustic
  • No drumset allowed, hand drums welcome
  • Must be able to provide own accommodations if needed
  • Up to date calendar with touring dates

The Gig

Details:

  • 3 Stages
  • Professional sound and lighting provided
  • Sound engineer provided
Additional Compensation Details:
  • Artists can keep 100% of merchandise sales
  • Performer's photo and bio posted on festival's website (~33K views a season)
  • Compensation negotiated at time of booking
