Summary

Big Something's annual Summer music festival and campout, The Big What? is currently accepting submissions for 2020 festival taking place in Mid August (exact dates to be announced soon).

Taking place over 3 nights in central North Carolina, this utopian festival brings together creatives, dreamers, lovers, healers, and the best music from around the globe. 


The Opportunity

Each year the festival features a musical and artistic adventure put together by the band members of Big Something. This includes multiple unique performances by Big Something plus many of their favorite local, regional and national touring bands in addition to a visual art gallery to showcase several up and coming visual artists. 

Now in its 8th year, The BIG What? has established itself as one of the best intimate festival experiences in the Southeast with an eclectic line up of musicians, artists, and vendors and a great community of music lovers that help create a friendly and imaginative environment with theme nights, costume contests and lots of southern hospitality.

It is our passion and our mission to give local and regional artists a platform to hone their skills and show the Big What? festival goers your gift of music.

The Band

  • We're looking for Rock, Jam, Psychedelic, Electronic, Funk, Fusion, Reggae  Reggae, Electronic, EDM and Disco acts. We're also booking DJ's and other genres if it's quality dance-driven music
  • Acts must be actively playing shows 
  • Acts must be willing to heavily promote the show if chosen to play
  • Acts are able to sell merch on-site
  • All acts applying must meet the criteria that we look for, lyrics, stage presence, style and artists must have a fanbase
  • Acts must have a solid online presence in NC


Past performances include Vulfpeck, Turkuaz, Sunsquabi, Toubab Krewe, Dopapod, Tauk, The Werks, Kung Fu, Zach Deputy, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Aqueous, Everyone Orchestra, The Larry Keel Experience, Barefoot Manner and many more...

The Gig

  • Pay is determined upon booking
  • PA provided
  • Basic backline provided 
  • Set times are determined on the fan base, local acts typically play earlier sets
  • Camping, lodging, and transportation logistics TBD upon booking
  • Festival On-site amenities include a vendor village, wooded camping, car camping, RV camping, outdoor showers, morning yoga, a photo booth, and several guided workshops and activities.
