Summary

The Break Contest is the official battle of the bands for The Bamboozle and The Bamboozle Left festivals. The Break Contest serves as a pedestal to new and upcoming bands by giving them a chance to win coveted spots on each festival. This year's Bamboozle will be held May 3rd and 4th at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, NJ.

The Break Contest is separated into two contests: The Battle portion and the Online portion. The Battle portion will be held over several weeks during the months of January, February, March, and April in New Jersey. A panel of judges will critique the artists selected to play on various criteria. Winners go on to play at The Bamboozle. ONLY artists from New Jersey can play The Battle.

The Online portion, which is exclusive to Sonicbids, is accepting submissions from artists all over the United States. Linc Star will review all entries and select at least two lucky winners who will be given a very coveted performance spot on the Bamboozle.

The Bamboozle 2008, held in East Rutherford, NJ had 10 stages worth of artists and over 80,000 attendees. In total, 20 winners from last year's Break Contest were given spots during the two-day festival, including one artist who performed on the main stage.

The online portion of "The Break Contest 2008", are for bands from all over the United States that have the ability to travel to New Jersey and participate in the Bamboozle Festival. There are many bands that cannot play the Battle due to tour schedules and radius clauses. This portion is available to those that WILL be able to participate in the festival on their own merit. The Bamboozle shall not be responsible for travel arrangements or lodging. Bands entering the contest will need to be self sufficient, and able to handle any travel and travel expenses to The Bamboozle Festival destination.
