Airing on the Monkey Talk online radio program, 'the locals' is America's local music showcase and is the premiere event of the year for groups of all genres of music. Two top bands will be will be awarded a U.S. tour and an online record deal, 3rd place takes an online record deal, 4th place receives local studio recording time, and 5th place rounds it out with a marketing package that includes guest hosting radio show, spins, plugs and an interview package.

This year, bands will flex their promotional muscles to attract fans that will vote for their favorite bands online at whrdhardrockradio.com. It's not about who has the glossiest recorded single or who has the most fans; it's all about the music.

In a lot of battle of the bands settings, pre-paid ticket tales to local friends, fans, family and support drive a popularity contest, leaving a lot of great unsigned talent unable to buy the prize, so to speak. This competition only includes votes from areas the artist does not live in an attempt to distribute untapped talent and music all over the country, exposing the locals and giving an opportunity for all bands participating to be heard and get exposure for a chance to tip the ear of one of the industry professionals and thrust forward their entertainment career.

As long as your original band is from U.S., you'll be accepted into the first round of The Locals. The Locals is comprised of three rounds -preliminary, semi-finals and finals- and will feature one city each night. Each band's single will be aired, their website and next show will be plugged, voting will take place after each of The Locals has been exposed.

Preliminaries run January 31st, 2010 to May 6th, 2010. Semi-Finals and Finals dates will be announced in April, 2010. Sonicbids bands will have priority in the selection process and will move to the front of the line for airplay and radio plugs. There is no limit to the Sonicbids submissions, but not all submissions will air. If at least one of your singles is not aired during the preliminaries or semi-finals, the application fee will be returned to the band.
