The Penalty Box - Providence, RI

The Penalty Box, a small newly remodeled corner pub on the East Side of Providence, RI is looking to book aspiring artists as there is no established "scene" and the owners want to create a live music reputation quickly. The goal is to help establish artists while establishing the venue, so it is a cooperative effort to promote independent music (locally and nationally).

Initially, artists will be booked on an immediate basis until the slots start filling up. A local draw of at least 20-60+ people is preferable, as the venue has a capacity of 80 people. Both local and nationally touring bands are welcome and the venue is flexible with multi-artist booking. Set times, set length, etc. are all flexible and mostly guitar-based original and cover band material for a dive-bar atmosphere will be featured. Since there is currently no PA system (one may be added later this year) artists will need to provide all their own equipment. Compensation will vary, depending on draw of artists.

This is a great opportunity for established bands/acts who would like to have an extra gig-swapping opportunity in Providence. If you already owe other acts opening spots in Providence, the Penalty Box may be a good alternative to a venue you might be saving for bigger gig-swap opportunities.
