The WRA Song Competition

The William Robert Abate (WRA) Song Competition is open to any unsigned artist or band with an original song(s). The WRA Song Competition honors artists and bands in the categories listed below (one winner is chosen in each category). 1)Pop/Top 40 2)Country/Acoustic 3) Rock/Heavy Metal 4) R&B/ Hip-Hop 5)Alternative 6) Gold Award Winner, an original song in any category that promotes peace and/or speaks out against violence.



Founded in 1993, in conjunction with the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the original William Robert Abate Competition awarded gifted, conservatory students for their achievements. The original competition lives on today, continuing its support of excellence at the Oberlin Conservatory. On the twelfth anniversary of the competition, the founders formed a new competition - The William Robert Abate Song Competition in hopes of reaching a wider audience. The winning songs will be a significant and lasting memorial to a young man named William Robert Abate who brought laughter, peace, love and kindness to the world.



This prize is an opportunity of a lifetime to win a professional, multilateral promotional/marketing campaign like no other, in which your songwriting achievement will be promoted and recognized throughout the music industry.
