Summary

WE DID IT ONCE, AND WE ARE DOING IT AGAIN...

We are proud to present the second annual 2006 Toronto Independent Music Awards in acknowledgement and appreciation of 100% Canadian owned independent music! The TIMAs are the first to help promote local musicians and to showcase the mass musical talent found in the community.

The 2006 TIMAs will take place October 5th, at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto.
Performances at the awards show will feature TIMA 2005 category winners. Over 20 awards
will be handed out to winners representing everything from "Best Punk" to "Best Jazz."

The TIMAs would also like to recognize businesses and supporters of Toronto Independent
music by inviting them to participate in the event. The awards show is about bringing
people and community together to celebrate the diversity of music found right in our own
back yard.

We have made several improvements and additions to last years show. Some of which include
a "Best Live" category and a showcase to take place Monday nights at Healey's in Toronto,
starting in June and running through August. The showcases are included with the TIMA
category application, but space is limited and based on a 'first come, first serve' policy so
get your entry in! We also have new sponsorship and are expecting to double submissions
this year.

The TIMAs are a great opportunity for out-of-area artists to get exposure! Check out the
"Best USA", "Best Out of Area - Canadian" and "Best International" categories.

Now that we have the first year under our belts, expect the second to be tremendous.

Come help us celebrate and keep our local music scene thriving! A portion of the TIMA
event ticket sales will help benefit "MusiCan".

Eligibility Criteria:Music must be 100% Canadian owned and operated with the exception of the "Best
International" and "Best USA" categories. Artists must have no affiliation to a multinational label.
