Don't miss your LAST CHANCE to submit to The Toronto Independent Music Awards. They will hold their "Best Live" Showcase series at The Central in Toronto, Ontario. 5-7 artists will invited to perform a 30-minute showcase. They approximate that they will showcase 140 bands this season./n/nThe Toronto Independent Music Awards will hold its "Best Live" Showcase series at The Central in Toronto, Ontario. In this 5th year, the categories are as follows:

"Best Live" – Acoustic

"Best Live" – Electric

OFF THE RADAR "Best Live" - Urban Showcase Series organized in affiliation with The Flavashop Inc.


The Showcases will take place in two seasons on a bi-weekly basis: Season 1 is May 2009 – Nov 2009, 14 shows, approximately 84 – 100 bands and Season 2 is Dec 2009 – June 2010 14 shows, approximately 84 – 100 bands. The Full Showcase Schedule can be found here.


All submissions for the "Best Live" - Acoustic and "Best Live" - Electric showcase series will be reviewed by Hydrogen Jukebox Artist Development and Multimedia as well as TIMAs judges. 5-7 artists will invited to perform a 30-minute showcase, per date. They approximate that they will showcase 140 bands this season.


Artists who perform for the OFF THE RADER "Best Live" - Urban Showcase series will perform a 5 minute set in front of industry professional judges. They hope to showcase approximately 60 urban and rap artists this season. All necessary production costs will be covered by the TIMAs so there is no additional fee to the band.

The winners of each category will receive $15,000 in unique industry-related prizes packages geared towards each genre including a performance at the 5th Toronto Independent Music Awards in Toronto, Ontario and additional exposure related benefits valued up to $5,000. All of last year's winners recieved a live performance on 89.5 CIUT FM Radio, a streaming track on MXPLAY through the TIMA website amongst MANY other prizes.


3 industry professional judges score each band performance on the following criteria:

  • Musicianship
  • Originality
  • Variety
  • Band Chemistry/Energy
  • Audience Interaction/Crowd Response

    All scores are compiled by an independent accounting firm.


    OTHER INFORMATION:

    - TIMAs showcased over 100 bands last season

    - Over 50 different media representatives attended TIMA last year, including major media such as: Toronto Star, Toronto Sun, CityTV and Rogers Entertainment Television.

    - Several media representatives cover each showcase


    **The showcase series and "Best Live categories are independent of any other TIMA recorded-material categories (Best Rock, Best Punk etc)
