The Treasure Island Music Festival returns to San Francisco on October 17 and 18, 2009. This amazing music celebration cannot be contained and for the third year in a row is spilling over into a series of night shows occurring back in San Francisco that continue the Island fun late into the night. The aptly titled Treasure Island Music Festival Night Shows will be held at The Independent, the latest incarnation of one of San Francisco’s most diverse live rooms, showcasing music in San Francisco for over 30 years. Treasure Island festival attendees and music fans will come together to commemorate San Francisco's newest favorite music event.



There is one slot reserved for a Sonicbids artist to play the Treasure Island Night Show on Saturday, October 17th. The selected artist will be paid a $500 travel stipend, courtesy of Sonicbids and Treasure Island (half paid upon selection, half paid upon performance). The headliner for this show is A Place To Bury Strangers and other bands on the bill include These Are Powers and All The Saints.



This year’s Treasure Island Music Festival line-up includes: MGMT, The Flaming Lips, MSTRKRFT, The Decemberists, Girl Talk, Beirut, Brazilian Girls, Grizzly Bear, The Streets, Yo La Tengo, Passion Pit, The Walkmen, LTJ Bukem Feat. MC Conrad, Bob Mould, DJ Krush, Thao with The Get Down Stay Down, Federico Aubele, Vetiver, Dan Deacon, Spiral Stairs, Murs, Sleepy Sun, Crown City Rockers, Tommy Guerrero, The Limousines and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros.
