Summary

TUNE is an effort born indirectly from a Federal grant given to 13 states in the US. These 13 states all had high rates of infant mortality – Nebraska being one of them. After much research, it was determined that one of the contributing factors to this problem was the lack of care by which young people, especially young women, provide for themselves. TUNE aims to push young people to find balance, embrace good habits and TUNE their lives accordingly./n/nTUNE is an effort born indirectly from a Federal grant given to 13 states in the US. TUNE is working with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and also a Nebraska-based marketing agency, Bailey Lauerman, to raise awareness on the many issues affecting the emotional and physical health of young people. The TUNE Song Search is just the beginning of this effort. As a first step, submissions will be collected through October 25, 2010 for a panel of judges to review. The selected artists will then be contacted and brought into a recording studio in Lincoln, NE to record their song.


Any genre of music is accepted, but music being submitted should stylistically be aimed a young people 16-25 years of age.


Up to eight winning artists will be picked. Each receiving $500 cash prize, studio time to record their song, publicity throughout the campaign and a professionally produced studio performance/interview video.


TUNE has worked closely with many news outlets across the state and specifically Top 40 stations like 106.3 KFRX FM in Lincoln, NE and Power 106.9 KOPW in Omaha, NE.


The past TUNE Song Search featured two winning artists from Sonicbids Entries: Aryn Michelle and Marijke Jane.
