Unraveled Festival in Downtown Los Angeles

Unraveled is in the process of organizing its first music/installation art festival in Downtown Los Angeles. This will take place during the DTLA Art Walk, and we believe everything will be ready by February 2014. Final date TBD.

We will have 20 local independent musicians performing in vacant storefront windows lining the streets of Downtown Los Angeles. There will be 3-4 musicians/bands in each window, each performing 30 minute sets over the course of 3 hours.

Installations designed by Unraveled Founder + Art Director Farida Amar will be built into these windows, and you will feel that you are being placed on exhibition somehow as a piece of interactive artwork and yet, playing a live show; you will feel you are in a private space and yet, playing on the street for all to see. People will pass by the window where you are performing, they will stop and listen and then keep walking to pop into the next gallery or find the next window filled with live music around the corner, and they will be replaced by more people who will stop to listen.

Right now we are in the early stages of making final decisions on exactly when and in which windows this will take place and we are curating now who will be performing. Our curators have made scouting talent in Los Angeles a priority for the coming months. In addition to their scouting efforts, we have decided to open this for Sonicbids applications. Please only apply if you are currently located in Los Angeles or if you can provide your own transportation from a surrounding area to attend.
