The Urban Music Awards USA is set to take place in Los Angeles on the 1st of July 2011.



The Urban Music Awards is holding a competition to find the best up and coming urban artists. All Sonicbids R&B, hip hop, jazz, dance, reggae and blues artists are encouraged to submit their EPK's to be judged by the Urban Music Awards panel of judges. In the past, this panel has included Jordan Kensington (C.E.O, of Invincible Media Group, Urban Music Awards & British Music Week), Chris Mitchell (VP & Head of A&R of Invincible Media Group), Donald Brookes (C.E.O of Devine Ideas LLC) and Rachael Johnson (PR & Marketing, Invincible Media Group).



Here's what selected artists will get:



  • 100 selected artists will automatically qualify for a VIP pass ($200 value) to the Urban Music Awards ceremony.


  • The grand prize winner will be announced and given a chance to perform live at the awards, with an additional opportunity to collect a trophy for 'Best National Unsigned Act'.


  • No additional fees will be assessed to artists if selected, except for those artists wanting additional tickets for family, friends and fans to support them on the finals.


About the awards show:


The Urban Music Awards was born out of the need to build a worldwide awards ceremony to recognize the achievement of urban based artists, producers, club nights, DJ’s, radio stations, record labels and artist that are or were previously unrecognized within their country of origin and are a product of the current dance/R&B, hip hop, neo soul, jazz, and dance music scene.



This year's awards show will be in aid of United Colours Childrens Foundation (UCCF), helping sponsoring childrens education and building schools in less developed parts of Africa, Asia, South America and Europe.


The Urban Music Awards has set it self as a credible awards ceremony. From its inception all nominations and voting have been decided by the public. In 7 years, the prestigious awards ceremony has been covered by : The BBC World Service, CNN, MTV, BET, VH1, BBC Radio 1, BBC Entertainment Online, Invincible TV, Evening Standard, The Metro Newspaper, The Independent, The Guardian, Channel 4, CD:UK, London Tonight, Choice fm, New Nation, The Voice, and many more.
