The Vancouver Island Music Business Conference - 2009

The Vancouver Island Music Business Conference is a four day event (June 24 - 28th, 2009) in the Comox valley on Vancouver Island, BC. It brings together music industry professionals in a seminar series covering the most relevant phases of the music business, including: songwriting, copyright, publishing, recording, publicity, music marketing, funding, touring, radio promotion, performing , packaging, and music management.



Showcases: During the conference, there will be 5 venues showcasing 25 acts of all genres, from bands to singer/songwriters. A PA system and backline will be provided, and all showcases are in the evening. One conference pass will be provided to each selected showcase artist/act, and additional passes will be available for only $99.

Three of the showcase acts will be booked for paid opening spots at The Sid Williams Theatre at a later date.



Workshops: Due to the overwhelming response, VIMBC is pleased to announce a broadening of their seminar series. Esteemed panelists from around the globe will be covering a wide variety of industry career options, including Tour Management, Event Promotion, Sound and Video Technician, Radio Personality/Programmer, Music Law, Internet Marketing, Songwriting and Publishing, to name a few. The recording artist will also have plenty to learn as conference sessions delve into the business of songs.



Demo critique sessions: VIMBC is offering the emerging artist an incredible opportunity to be heard by a panel of industry experts who have the knowledge to help artists achieve radio airplay and advance their career. There are a limited number of spots, so artists are encouraged to book a demo critique session early!
