Vox Pop: Books, Coffee, Democracy

We're a fair-trade coffee, union-organized bookstore & coffeehouse in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn. We host great live music of all kinds, mostly conscious acoustic, post-punk, jazz, and anything new.



We opened our doors in November 2004 and have been off and running ever since. Our venue can accommodate an intimate crowd of about 40-50 people, and we offer a great atmosphere for all our guests. We currently book 4-6 weeks in advance and are looking for acts to perform Wednesday – Saturday nights. Set lengths run about 40 minutes and we do prefer original music if possible.



Artists will be compensated for their performances - usually a healthy split of the door (plus free dinner and coffee in the store!) We like people who can co-promote with us. We're into flyering and putting together the right kind of acts into one night so that it flows and people stay to hear everyone.
