Summary

The Warren Morrow Latin Music Festival, a one day festival of all kinds of Latin music, is looking for up to 3 Sonicbids artists to play the only Latin music festival in the state of Iowa. Selected artists could be compensated up to $5,000. The event is a fundraiser that raises funds for non-profits that serve youth, focus on leadership development and/or financial literacy education for Latinx communities in Central Iowa. It is a project of Latino Arts Initiative an arts-based non-profit committed to highlighting Latinx arts in Iowa.

The festival will be the third Saturday in July. 

The Opportunity

When Warren Morrow died unexpectedly at the age of 34, his friends wanted to find a way to continue his legacy. A community leader, entrepreneur, philanthropist and mentor to many, Morrow was also a music lover who wanted to bring more live Latin music to Des Moines. The Warren Morrow Memorial Concert has brought together Rock en espanol, samba-infused beats, salsa, hip hop, metal, regional Mexican music and more. Warren was a visionary, and he saw potential in everything and everyone, and his friends wanted to do the same so in 2016, they expanded from a concert to a music festival with over 5 bands including headliners such as La Santa Cecilia, QUITA PENAS and Celso Pina.


The Band

  • Open to all genres of Latin music, including Rock en espanol, hip hop, rap, reggaeton, indie/folk, cumbia, mariachi, etc.
  • Touring and regional artists welcome from any nationality (festival will be looking local first, then regional and then nationwide)
  • Selection will be made on the basis of high quality musical talent, creativity, and a history of professional live performances
  • Bands must be flexible with transportation and lodging options, that may include Airbnb and private transport by festival volunteers

The Gig

  • Performance will be indoors
  • Sets range from 30 minutes+
  • Sound equipment provided
More compensation details:
  • Artist could be compensated up to 5,000 depending on the size of the group, distance traveled and draw
  • No additional travel or accommodation fees will be possible
