West Coast Songwriters International Song Contest 2009

West Coast Songwriters (WCS) is holding its 2009 song contest 2009 and by entering your song, you have the chance to win some great prizes. There are five large prizes for "Overall" acknowledgments and each category winner will receive a prize as well. WCS Categories include: Rock, Pop, Jazz, Country, World, Americana, Gospel/Inspirational, Blues, R&B, Folk, Hip-Hop, Latin, Humorous, Children's, Instrumental, Singer/Songwriter, Adult Contemporary and Miscellaneous/Other. We do have an "Instrumental" category but not a "lyric only" category. We do plan on offering a lyric contest in the future. All songs must be original.



One GRAND PRIZE Winner will receive a Xytar NEW Indigo 4 model 24/32 - A turn-key recording recording mixing and mastering system with 200 hours of recording time, all effects, 2 removable sound trays, recording to compact flash cards, 2 high-end large condensor microphones with shock-mounts, cables and stands. 20" high resolution flat screen, ultra quiet/low distortion mic pre's, headphones. Redbook masters. Make great records out of the box! This prize has a value of $18,000.



SECOND PRIZE: XYTAR Traveler II 4/32 portable recording system - 200 hours of recording time with all effects, compact flash, mixer, microphone, headphones. This prize has a value of more than $3000.

Category winners other than the major prize winners listed above will receive an ADK Condensor microphone, a Winner certificate, and a WCS Tee Shirt.

Winners will be selected by an Executive Committee comprised of noted singer/songwriters. Songs will be judged based on melody, composition, and lyrics (when applicable). The quality of performance and production will not be considered. Prizes will be awarded jointly to all authors of any song.



This Contest is open to amateur and professional songwriters. Parent/guardian permission is required for each entrant under 18 years of age. Employees of WCS, their families, subsidiaries, and affiliates are not eligible.



WCS has been in existence since 1979. Its purpose is to offer opportunity and education to songwriters. With between 15 and twenty events a month, WCS continues to be one of the most active songwriter associations in the USA.
