West Coast Songwriters International Song Contest 2011

Now in its 6th year with Sonicbids, the West Coast Songwriters International Song Contest is your chance to be heard by a number of hit songwriters and producers, as well as win an array of great prizes. The grand prize winner will win an Ovation guitar valued at $700, a conference pass for the 31st annual WCS Music Conference, an invitation to perform their song at the Sunset Concert at the conference, and more.

Prizes include:

• The grand prize Winner will receive an Ovation guitar valued at $700 plus a WCS t-shirt, and official Winner certificate. They will also be given a Conference Pass for the 31st annual WCS Music Conference taking place September 9-11, 2011 (including lodging at a nearby hotel). If the winner is a performing songwriter they will also be invited to perform their winning song at the Sunset Concert at the Conference in front of all the music industry guests.

  Individual category winners will receive an ADK Audiophile Series A-51 microphone worth $270 plus WCS t-shirt, and official Winner certificates.

WCS Categories include: Rock, Pop, Jazz, Country, World, Americana, Gospel/Inspirational, Blues, R&B, Folk, Hip-Hop, Latin, Humorous, Children's, Instrumental, Singer/Songwriter, Adult Contemporary and Miscellaneous/Other. There is an "Instrumental" category, but not a "lyric only" category. All songs must be original.



This Contest is open to amateur and professional songwriters. Signature of parent/guardian required for each entrant under 18 years of age. Employees of WCS, their families, subsidiaries, and affiliates are not eligible.



Winners will be selected by an Executive Committee comprised of noted singer/songwriters.
Judges and Conference guests include Hit Songwriters and producers Narada Michael Walden, Steve Seskin, Andre Pessis, George Merrill, Bonnie Hayes, and others. Songs will be judged based on melody, composition, and lyrics (when applicable). The quality of performance and production will not be considered. Prizes will be awarded jointly to all authors of any song
WCS has been in existence since 1979. Its purpose is to offer opportunity and education to songwriters. With between 15 and twenty events a month, WCS continues to be one of the most active songwriter associations in the USA.
