Summary
The Whaling City Festival is the largest New England event south of Boston. This celebration is a New Bedford/South Coast tradition. Now in its 40th year, the festival features family entertainment, top name musical acts, childrens entertainment, an exciting Carnival Midway, an International food court, and large craft and flea market areas.
The festival features 6 stages of continuous entertainment, and 30-40 bands. There are 6 slots reserved for Sonicbids artists, and artist compensation is $150. Artists keep 100% of merch sales.
Over 150,000 people enjoy this festival annually.
The Whaling City Festival is hosted in the scenic Buttonwood Park, just a short distance from New Bedfords historic downtown and whaling museum. Audience members come from throughout southeastern New England, but the majority are from the Providence, New Bedford and Fall River areas.
Recent Sponsors include: ABC-6, Comcast, Dunkin Donuts, Georgia Pacific, Fall River Ford, Fun 107, Snapple, A&W, Nantucket Nectars, Sunkist, and the City of New Bedford.
