Summary

Stand Alone Records is looking for a song to be used in "What is INDIE?", a documentary film that explores what it really means to be an indie artist in the music industry. The film features interviews with 20 artists as well as several industry experts including Sonicbids founder Panos Panay and CD Baby founder Derek Sivers. A video preview can be seen here: www.whatisindiemovie.com/galleries.cfm

Music is needed for a crucial point in the film when a new definition is introduced for what an indie artist is. The selected song will also be used in the special features for the DVD during a segment featuring Panos Panay describing Sonicbids and its services. This opportunity is exclusively for Sonicbids members.

All genres of music are welcome, and while the song doesn't have to be instrumental, there should be at least 10-15 seconds in the song without vocals. This is a flat fee license and the chosen songwriter will of course retain ownership of their song. As is standard in this type of agreement, there will not be royalty payments, however the songwriter will be compensated $200 USD for the track used and be given a copy of the DVD.

The chosen artist’s song will also be used for a compilation CD accompanying the DVD for the film. As compensation, the artist will have a choice of either $50 per 1000 DVD/CD’s pressed or 5 free copies of the DVD/CD’s which can be sold by the artist (value of $100). The artist will also get 6 free months added to their Sonicbids account, as well as other benefits from Stand Alone Records.

The film will begin screening in 2006 at many major music conferences, film festivals and other screenings throughout the world. The DVD of the film will be released in Spring of 2006 by Stand Alone Records and will be made available online through CD Baby's sister website, Filmbaby.com

Good luck!
