Summary

Word X Word is a week-long, multiple venue festival in Western Massachusetts celebrating the performed word, with an emphasis on new, emerging, and indie performers. Over 100 performers on six stages throughout this downtown walk around event will perform in intimate venues in Pittsfield, MA. Cash compensation is available for select artists and all artists receive passes for the week/n/nWord X Word is a week-long, multiple venue festival in Western Massachusetts celebrating the performed word, with an emphasis on new, emerging, and indie performers. Over 100 performers on six stages throughout this downtown walk around event will perform in intimate venues in Pittsfield, an exploding arts and music hotbed the heart of the Berkshires, Western MA's cultural destination.



Past festival performers include Langhorne Slim, Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, Billy Keane and the Misdemeanor Outlaws, Christine Ohlman and Rebel Montez, Derek Brown, Rives, Sarah Kay, Mike and Ruthy, the Low Anthem, David Dondero, Taylor Mali, Ari Hest, Mieka Pauley, Grammy winner Jesse Harris, Amanda Shires and Rod Picott, Alix Olsen, Eboni, and dozens more.



100% of the fees collected go to directly to the artists selected. WXW is an exciting and new festival for emerging performers, with excellent promotional and media support. They encourage early submission through Sonicbids, as up to half of the festival lineup will be selected from Sonicbids submissions.


Word X Word was featured in the Boston Globe, Berkshire Living, Albany Times Union, Berkshire Eagle, and on radio on WAMC and WBUR



Written Spoken Sung is the theme of WXW 2011; they encourage poets, playwrights, songwriters and anyone for whom the performed word is their medium. Venues mix genres so exposure for all genres is maximized.
