PRIZES AND SPONSORS

  • In Tune Monthly - "Best Teen Band in the Land"

  • How many teen bands can say they’ve had the opportunity to open live in concert for a major label artist, at their own high school no less? That bragging right will belong to the grand prizewinners of the 2009 Young Guns TEEN Nationwide Online Battle of the Bands when they share their high school stage with one of the most talented young singer-songwriters around, Warner Bros. artist Jason Reeves.

  • ASCAP J.A.M. - " Best Original Song"

  • Show off your songwriting talents at one the music industry's most important events, the ASCAP I Create Music Expo in Los Angeles. Some of the biggest names in songwriting have participated in ASCAP's EXPOs, including Jon Bon Jovi, Jackson Browne, Steve Miller, Randy Newman and Tom Petty. And now the list could include you if you win the ASCAP J.A.M. Prize for Best Original Song.

  • Catawba College Music Scholarships

  • Pursue your dream of becoming a successful popular musician by studying at Catawba College, one of only a few American colleges and universities with a full-blown curriculum especially designed to meet the needs of performers and and songwriters interested in popular music.

ALL entrants in Young Guns 2009 receive scholarship consideration to study at Catawba. AND one musician will receive a $5,000 scholarship for study at Catawba. Renewed over four years, that could amount to $20,000!

HOW THE BEST BAND IS CHOSEN

Every band that enters the competition will be entered into an online voting poll where the band's fans can vote for them, up to once per day. The voting portion of the competition will account for 25% of the scoring.

Immediately after online voting closes, Young Guns will confirm the eligibility of the top bands. We'll then send the myspace links of these bands to a panel of music industry professionals who will help Young Guns pick the In Tune Monthly "Best Teen Band in the Land."
