"Introducing Frank's album, "Who I Am.""

“Frank Porter continues to introduce his new acoustic CD, “Who I Am” (Tate Music Group, 2013), a lively, memorable blues- and folk-influenced disc that will keep you listening and wanting more. Guitarheads love the virtuosity he displays on “Malaguena” and “Twisted Blues,” and sensitive artist-types appreciate the sincerity of his lyrics and vocals in “Never Forget You” and “Puddin.” Frank is always trying creative ways to get his music heard: In February, 2014, he performed at the VIP Taproom in Bethlehem, PA, where WXLV’s Phil Stahl hosted, recorded, and on the following Thursday broadcast the performance. In December of 2013, he was on the regional cable television show, “Inside Music Today” (taped at “Dr. Lou’s Place” in Roebling, NJ) and in May of 2014, Frank was also on the “The Phil Stahl Show” (RCN, Comcast). This past Fall, Frank had the opportunity to perform for the “American Diabetes Foundation Benefit” at Steel Stacks, in Bethlehem, PA” - Bernadette Glenn, Out On The Town Magazine Issue 3604

Bio

This EPK has Frank Porter listed as a cover band, BUT... The reason that option was selected is that while Frank Porter is an original recording artist working on his 8th album, he continues to mix cover songs into his shows. What he does is about music and entertainment. He has fun so he can infect his audience with fun. His process works well. He can do all cover songs, all original songs, a nice mix of both, OR a mix of instrumental songs and songs with lyrics.

Frank Porter is a solo acoustic act that is unlike most others you've seen. This is a quote from a 2022 performance at Foundation Tavern in Allentown, PA. "I have seen a lot of acoustic guitar players and I have never seen anyone play like that on an acoustic guitar." This was from an audience member who said he plays a little guitar and has seen many musical acts over the years, and he was not the only one. There were also some guys from Texas telling Frank he should play in Austin and that he was an amazing guitarist.

This is because Frank has the ability to perform lead guitar solos to his own rhythm tracks for a fuller arrangement and richer sound. With the use of a looper pedal, he makes it sound like two well rehearsed guitarists.  However, before you roll your eyes and say I have seen those looper pedal guys out there, just consider that at one point Gibson and Epiphone named Frank the best lead guitarist out of 320 people from 6 states.

Further, Frank has 3 international songwriting awards since 2015. The latest being a third place in December of 2020.  He is currently working on a new live album. He has performed about 170 shows so far in 2022 and has live-recorded most of them. Just to get things stirred up he recently released a brand new live instrumental song titled, "What You Gonna Do? (Live)." Have a listen here: https://youtu.be/CQUCr4apbg4

He has performed at many places with his Gibson Les Paul, as well as his acoustic Ovation Elite.  Let's start with the legendary CBGB's where the staff and audience loved his band.  He also played Bleeker Park and Gussy's in NYC among other places. He has played World Cafe, Love Park, Legendary Dobbs, Boathouse Row and many other places in Philadelphia. He has also played Le Grande Fromage, The Boneyard, Proud Mary's, The Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall and other places in Atlantic City. Some recent shows include The Roxy Theatre in Northampton, PA, The Majestic Theater in Pottsville, PA, and Crossroads in Garwood, NJ, among others.

He's experienced and professional, and one last item is that in late 2021 one of the founders of Pandora (Tim Westergren) found Frank's original instrumental song Nitro from a live performance video on YouTube and invited him to work with him and his staff on his new streaming concert platform. Although Frank is busy with this, he still performs in person as much as he can. He's looking to open for bigger acts and do larger festivals. He also enjoys performing in pubs, restaurants, bars, and is very skilled at running open mic events. His sound system is a notch above many solo acts out there on the road. He really cares about his fans and goes the extra mile for them in many ways.
