"CONFIDENCE PRESENTS: GDOT & BORN FEATURING EDO. G"

As far as rap mentors go, you’d be hard pressed to find a better one than Edo G. And while the Boston-bred duo GDot & Born’s new LP still finds them emerging from his shadow (in the form of Edo’s nine solo tracks, half the album’s total, minus four interludes), their performance is proof that the old Bulldog can still sniff out emerging talent. The pair share Edo’s blue-collar approach; they rarely dazzle with wordplay or flows, but demonstrate skills and solid chemistry — with GDot’s robust, aggressive flow balancing well with Born’s smooth, slick style — that grows over the course of their portion of the album, even if the content remains mostly generic. That’s in large part thanks to Confidence, whose production throughout elevates the project to a higher standard. While obviously derivative of DJ Premier and Pete Rock (who gets his own dedication on “Living Legend”), Confidence’s masterful manipulation of piano loops, vocal samples, and boom-bap drums on “It’s Real,” “Manhunt” and “Makin’ Tracks” honorably carries on their tradition of jazzy and soulful sample-based beats. Working from that platform, GDot & Born (and Edo, sounding sharp as ever on “Grammers Strong”) present a highly enjoyable slice of pure hip-hop. - Boston Globe

"GDot & Born – Living Legend (feat. Grap Luva, Rob-O & Ed O.G.)"

GDot & Born’s dedication to Pete Rock gets an accompanying video, surrounded by Grap Luva & Rob-O (of INI) and Edo G. Off the album Confidence Presents G. Dot & Born Featuring EDO. G due out Jan. 28th.
It’s all Golden Era homage on this one with Confidence responsible for the Boom Bap backing up the veteran homie Ed. O.G. on this tribute to Mount Vernon’s very finest DJ Pete Rock. Boston repping strong with G.Dot & Born as well as Grap Luva & INI’s Rob-O rounding out the track.
You can read what the dudes themselves had to say about this cut & the album at large:
Hip-Hop legend Edo.G teams up with his apprentices G. Dot & Born, Boston natives, to shine light on their story and style while also providing their own sound. All production is handled by Confidence, who’s claim to fame includes “Rashad and Confidence” and “Purpose and Confidence” on Ill Adrenaline Records and he produced seven tracks on Neek the Exotic’s “Hustle Don’t Stop” LP from 2012.
The LP is fourteen tracks deep with Gdot & Born handling about half the duties on the mic, with the remaining tracks being handled by Edo.G, providing listeners with a nice diversity; while Confidence keeps a steady stream of that authentic Hip-Hop he is known for throughout.
Confidence, a student of the game dating back to the 90’s, first got a taste of music production in the mid 90′s while learning to DJ with his brother Technic. His break didn’t come until 2001 when he copped an MPC 2000xl which he still uses to this day to compose masterpieces.
G. Dot & Born relay the struggle of survival in the streets with hard-hitting raw lyrics, traditional gritty street beats and a confident delivery that takes Hip-Hop back to its essence. G. Dot and Born stay true to the city of Boston that raised them and 90’s Hip Hop influences like J. Dilla, Sean P., Big Pun, Edo G., Kool G. Rap, AZ and Nas by embodying a humble braggadocio that only real life experiences teach you.
Today, the group offers up a tribute song, “Living Legend,” dedicated to the one and only Pete Rock, featuring Pete’s former INI cohorts Grap Luva (Pete’s brother), Rob-O & EDO. G.
Confidence Presents G. Dot & Born Featuring EDO. G will be released on 1-28-14 and you can pre-order it here: redlinemusicdistribution.bigcartel.com/produ…edo-g - Manifest

"G-Dot & Born Ft. Masta Ace – “Ghetto Survivors”"

Those who live comfortably behind white picket fences, are often quick to judge the lifestyle and culture of those raised by the corners. As block boys turned emcees, Boston’s G dot & Born, have studied the game and have taken their experiences from the streets to the studio, as exemplified on their latest leak, “Ghetto Survivors.”

Production wise, Ben Hedibi crafts a soulful, slap heavy instrumental, laced with a well composed scratch hook courtesy of, DJ Technic, that takes it back to the bare bones fundamentals of MPCs and SL-1200s. And if Edo G was first to roll out the record carpet for the revivalist duo, than Masta Ace will help them to continue their ascend, with his proficient raps that details the ‘dos and dont’s’ of ghetto survival…“don’t try to have the whole block scared of you, you never know what the scared are prepared to do.” - All Hip Hop

Born and raised in the Roxbury and Dorchester neighborhoods of Boston, G. Dot & Born are familiar with fighting to survive. Spitting rhymes since childhood the long-time friends built on their common Latino heritage and passion for authentic Hip Hop. In 2011, the two

G. Dot & Born’s sound, energy, and work ethic caught the attention of Hip Hop legend and Boston’s own Edo G. who learned about them through a mutual friend. The year to follow this introduction was a true demonstration of their passion, hard work, and dedication to the
Hip Hop movement. Studio time with Edo G. crafted "Making Tracks", produced by Confidence Beats with cuts by DJ Technic in the beginning of 2012. “Making Tracks” became an instant classic worldwide. Etablishing global recognition in countries like Chile, Berlin, Hungary, Beijing and Naples. To date this video has had over 250,000 views with undeniable support and appreciation from fans. It was
only right they continued to build on the success of “Making Tracks” with a complete compilation album titled “Confidence Presents G. Dot & Born featuring Edo G.” in January 2014 which spent the entire month of February 2014 on Underground Hip Hop’s top sellers list.

Recent projects have included features with Masta Ace, Planet Asia, Edo G., Black Madeen, Ganjahr Family and Key n’ One. A close relationship has also been built with Boston CEO on their visuals and Ben Hedibi on the beats.  Future projects are set to include Sean Price, Sadat X and fellow Boston artists Akrobatik and Reks with some other surprises in store. An album is currently in the works with Italian producer Oyoshe titled “From Boston to Naples”, as well as projects with producers from Barcelona and Columbia.
