"Action Magazine"

“Granvil can wring the blues out of an electric guitar with a
Fervor that bespeaks influences like Stevie Ray and Eric Clapton,
but it’s the voice that elicits the big question: Where in
hell has this guy been all of these years?” “You sound as good on the street as you do on a disc, and I think that's the acid test. Enjoyed it.”

Sam Kindrick- Action Magazine - Sam Kindrick

"Big City Rhythm & Blues Magazine"

Granvil Poynter is a true blues name if I ever heard one and like the man himself, his blues is real.…The biting slide, throbbing bass, churning harp and organ … This Texas twanging man in black has a voice reminiscent of Charlie Musselwhite and his deliberate yet biting guitar has a weight that exceeds his large frame…

"Blues Blast Magazine"

“…Poynter’s debut CD, Another Day Singing the Blues, is long over due…. His voice is a hybrid of Lou Reed an Johnny Cash … and he proves to be a consummate bluesman…Granvil Poynter and the great musicians that were gathered together for this project should be proud of the work they have done. This is a very nice blues-inspired disk and I hope you get a chance to give it a listen.”

Rex Bartholomew- Blues Blast Magazine - Rex Bartholomew

"Blues Underground Network"

“The Music, Lyrics, and Vocals of Granvil Poynter, on his new release "Another Day Singing The Blues", did nothing less than simply captivate me. An amazing album from beginning to end, with the title track being one of my favorites of the year.”
John Vermilyea -Blues Underground Network - John Vermilyea

"rootstime"

“The debut album of Granvil Poynter…has become an absolute hit! You have those albums where after the first listen you have the knowledge that you will welcome one of the best discoveries of the year…”Another Day Singing The Blues “ is one of them…In our opinion true lovers of blues guitar will not hesitate, but must include this release in their collection…”

Bio

Granvil Poynter developed his blues based sound in the roadhouses of his native Arkansas and in the bars and juke joints of the Lone Star State. His gateway to the blues was the incredible work of popular artists Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn, and once he got a taste of this he dug deeper and discovered the marvel of the old school masters, including (among others) Muddy Waters, Albert King, and John Lee Hooker. Granvil has been acknowledged with solid reviews for his album “Another Day Singing the Blues” from Big City Blues Magazine, Blues Blast Magazine, Rootstime and The Underground Blues Network. The Texas Bluesman won Best Blues Artist in the 2014 San Antonio Music Awards. In Jan 2015 Granvil got the call to open up for ZZ Top at the Majestic Theater for two nights in a row, Sat Jan 17 & Sun Jan 18. On the second night something magic happened, Billy Gibbons heard the two piece band Granvil Poynter-on vocals and guitar, Raul G. Garcia holding down the rhythm on a Cajon – a box like instrument that sounds like a drum. The iconic Mr. Gibbons let them know how much he enjoyed their sound. Mr. Gibbons graciously took the time with Granvil and Raul to talk music and guitars and in a great affirmation of their sound, telling them their music needed to be acknowledged and he would like to keep in touch. What a weekend!

Granvil continues to play venues and festivals in San Antonio, Austin and across the United States doing what he loves and continuing to keep the Blues alive and well with his excellent sidemen, all musicians of extraordinary talent and ability.
