"Sound of the future: 'James Grebb - Bandwidth'"

Newcomer James Grebb found his style last year. While his previous releases haven't reached much stream, the young producer's tracks from last year have been listened to up to 50,000 times. His release “Contrast” even reached 100,000 views in 3 months. With “Bandwidth”, the Denver-based producer could now take the next step.

James Grebb has been publishing tracks since 2017. Before that, he had been doing live mixes in the electro and bass house genres for 7 years. Since last year, his singles have regularly achieved quite good views. The special thing about it: Only one of his top releases was released on a label. Nevertheless, Grebb receives support from Pasquale Rotella, who is part of the “EDC” team and is employed by “Insomniac”. He has also been supported in the past by labels such as “Trap Nation” and the Spanish DJ star Danny Avila. Seven singles have also made it into the Beatport charts, including one that even made it to number 2 in the genre charts for Electro House. Recently he also played gigs at early festivals, including the Global Dance Festival in his hometown of Denver, and in clubs like Beta Night Club and The Church.

James Grebb's style is definitely one for the future. Basically it's a combination of Electro House and Bass House, just like some artists on labels like “STMPD records“, “Hexagon“ and “Spinnin‘ Next “are doing. However, there is much more to "Bandwidth". The track starts with a synthwave melody in the 80s style, which is currently popular in dance-pop productions. The drop consists of a futuristic sound that was somehow thrown together from bass house, electro house, future house and dubstep. James Grebb already used this mixture in his previous singles “Contrast” and “On The Horizon” and it was very well received. And with “Bandwidth”, James Grebb managed this genre crossover very well.

Conclusion: James Grebb is part of the Bass House 2.0 movement, for which artists like Seth Hills, Magnificence and Dirty Palm stand. He has successfully combined several electronic dance styles and combined them into one style in “Bandwidth” that sounds innovative and stands out from the crowd. Anyone who can no longer hear music styles such as Future House, Big Room or Progressive House will get a successful change on their ears with “Bandwidth”. - Dance-Charts

"James Grebb Drops Powerful Single ‘Static Memory’ & Interview"

James Grebb is back again, this time with a hard-hitting Electro House single titled ‘Static Memory’. Alluring vocals introduce the track, followed by a lively instrumental chorus. Fluctuating synths, dymanic percussion, and vocal chops deliver an invigorating dance-worthy track. This desirable electronic single is guaranteed to get every listener moving and is perfect for any setting. The different elements within ‘Static Memory’ demonstrate how this track can be seamlessly integrated into any set or compilation. James Grebb continues to make his mark on the music industry by consistently releasing intricate, exhilarating dance music.

1. Tell us about the first track that put you on the map in the electronic scene and the journey since. How did you get started?

My song “Contrast” was the first time I feel like I really defined my sound and exemplified the direction I wanted to take my records in. I received so many messages asking me to continue that style, blending in a strong vocal lead with a modern Electro House drop. It’s still one of my favorites tracks I’ve written.

2. Tell us about your latest project

“Static Memory” was one of many songs, created by just experimenting in my studio. I always love to bend the rules and use plugins in ways they weren’t intended or automating sounds in a unique way. The main bassline is the result of doing just that. Paired with the glitchy vocals in the break, I knew it was ready.

3. Tell us something we wouldn’t normally find out about you?

I love Jazz music! It’s usually what I’m listening to whenever I’m relaxing or looking to reference outside of the electronic scene.

4. What single night out has been most memorable for you as a dj and producer?

Seeing Habstrakt at Temple Nightclub in Denver. I’ve always looked up to him as a producer and artist. Watching him play a packed nightclub with original, genre bending music made me set a goal for myself to follow the same path.

5. Give us the name of one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you listen to it?

“I Remember” by Deadmau5 and Kaskade. I’ve probably listened to it 1,000 times at this point, but the chord progression and melody still feel as innovative and new as when I first listened to it.

6. Dream collaboration and why?

Definitely Martin Garrix. His work has been a huge inspiration to my own productions. His ability to make hit dance pop records alongside darker club records is legendary.

7. If you could play any festival, which would it be?

Ultra Music Festival in Miami. When I first got into electronic music, I would watch the livestream every year like clockwork. It always seemed like the most incredible crowd and atmosphere.

8. How do you get a track started? tell us about your production process

I typically start with the drop and focus heavily on designing my own basslines and top leads. After I have the idea down I continue to tweak smaller details and move onto writing chords/melodies for the breaks.

9. Latest project? What are you currently working on?

Naturally, spending so much time at home this year, I’ve got a lot of new tracks lined up for 2021 and 2022. I’m excited to see what people think!

10. The relationship between a dj and the audience is crucial, and yet is seems to be a fragile one – how do you see the balance between giving the crowd what they want and treating them to something new?

That always depends on the show. I think it’s important to mix in what’s familiar with records that are lesser known to surprise the crowd. One of the greatest feelings as a DJ is playing a track no one in the club has heard before. - UFO Network

"James Grebb drops incredible new single ‘Phonetic’"

American DJ and producer James Grebb presents his new tune Phonetic.

Kicking off with a glitched melody and a catchy rolling rhythm, Phonetic continues increasing its energy on the first crescendo. The drop is a fast showcase of hard-hitting kicks and hypnotic percussions; Magnificence‘s signature sound is heavy present on this part. The breakdown breathes the record thanks to a minimalistic vocal and soft melodies. Phonetic ends with yet another high-energetic drop, perfect for clubs and festivals to make the crowd going crazy.

All the way from Denver, Colorado, James Grebb born as a DJ and rapidly felt in love with electro and bass house music. After 7 years of mixing, he decided to step his game up and he started producing his own music. "Future House Banger: 'James Grebb - Contrast'"

The name of the latest number by DJ and music producer James Grebb says it all, released on January 24: “Contrast” can convince with its mix of catchiness and hardness from the first round. In any case, we were immediately impressed, so we would like to take a closer look at the electro house track and the artist behind it.

James Grebb is actually already an old hand in the EDM scene: Before he devoted himself to his first music productions, he had been a DJ for seven years. With his sets, which mainly consist of progressive and electro house, he was able to take the hearts of club listeners by storm. In the meantime, the artist from Denver has performed at coveted venues such as the Beta Nightclub, Global Dance's Supernatural Festival and The Church. In 2017 “Nebula” was one of the first tracks on Spotify. Since then, James Grebb has published numerous numbers in which he shows off his club-heavy style. And it was well received: it was placed in the Beatport Top 100 no less than seven times and even reached number two in the electro house genre. His publications are supported by Danny Avila, Max Fail, Tomo Hirata and Trap Nation, among others.

After his last musical [tracks] were mostly instrumental in nature, James Grebb started with “Contrast” on female vocals, which denies the catchy chorus with her delicate and sensitive voice. In the background, spherical and bass-heavy surfaces are interwoven with distinctive synths. The drop follows after a short time, which with its monotonous club sounds represents the counterweight and seduces the dance floor with its fat bassline. In the second round, the arrangement in the chorus and the drop varies, which demonstrates the producer's love of detail. After less than two and a half minutes of playing time, the song ends at its climax.

With "Contrast" James Grebb takes his signature sound to the next musical evolution and remains true to himself, avoiding a standstill. The contrast between the melodic, melancholic singing passages and the reduced drops is also its magic charm. We wouldn't be surprised if we heard the number on one of our next club visits. An absolute must for dance fans and DJs. We stay tuned to James Grebb and wish him all the best! - Dance-Charts
