Un grand moment de trémousserie savaticide que l’écoute du Deuxième opus du « power-duo » de Géorgie. Ben oui sont que deux, ce que tu as du mal à croire en te balançant le derche, total en transe… C’est que la musique que produisent les deux frangins (enfin demi-frère, soyons précis) c’est pas la musique à tous le monde. Ils ont réussi à faire un savant mélange de Country Hill et de Juke Joint blues….. Z’allez me dire que ça se ressemble quand même un peu, je veux bien mais…… Bon d’accord ! Mais…. Peut être, oui si on veut…..
Bon ! Ça suffit ! On va pas ergoter et je répète que leur musique est total originale et même si leur inspire arrive de chez Burnside ou de Kimbrough, ils ont mis une bonne dose de Black Keys et de John Spencer dans la sauce sans oublier une pointe de Muddy Water et de Blind Willie Johnson, le tout travaillé à la slide et au finger picking, chanté ou narré d’une voix posée, total maîtrisée aux accents soul et rythmé par une batterie primitive, un martèlement hypnotique et énergique. Un blues bien crade au son, et c’est là l’originalité, parfaitement claire et unique qui n’use d’aucun artifice et qui sort tout droit de matos vintage, une musique qui à l’arrivée te file une banane monstrueuse et la saint-guysade irrépressible.
L’équipage n’est pas non plus sans une certaine originalité, John Sosebee occupe ses pieds sur une grosse caisse et une caisse claire et ses mains sur sa guitare tout en chantant ses propres textes, ben oui c’est lui qui a composé les dix tunes, le demi-frangin, Jacob Gise, s’occupant des cymbales avec les pieds et de la basse avec les mains….
