Bio

Ashburn GA native, Mike Jerel connects with the hearts of his audience. His music touches the soul. He is influenced by and compared to some of the very best:  Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Bruno Mars and PJ Morton.  Young Mike’s humble musical roots began while traveling the streets of Turner County with his Grandmother, offering songs of comfort to those convalescing – his performance pay, a McDonald’s Happy Meal. Fast-forward to formal studies at Columbus State University’s Schwob School of Music. Mr. Jerel studied voice with Professor Earl Coleman, was cast as Nemorino in the opera, The Elixir of Love, won Georgia and Southeast Regional NATS Competitions plus sang with Schwob’s Choral Union and University Singers. But perhaps more formative to his current sound and style, Mike immersed himself into CSU’s Popular Music Ensemble and Top Jazz Combo. Stepping into the professional world armed with his music degree, Jerel was schooled again; this time in the world of corporate gigs and cover bands. Stints with River City Horns, Fountain City Players, the Chemistry Project and Silent Threat helped round out his stage show. Mike’s vocal and keyboard flair caught the attention of notable musicians including Alabama Shakes, Carlos Samayoa, Jerald Daemyon and Charles “Big Saxy” Robinson resulting in performances throughout the Southeastern US, South America and Europe. Needless to say, grown-up Mike has acquired a taste for finer foods and a suitable performance stipend to support it. Mike Jerel’s independent released singles, “Free Yourself and Believe” (2014) and “Keep Moving” (2015), along with his EP, Neo Soul Symphony(2016 March), are just the beginning for this gifted singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, producer.
