"FVSU grad a contestant on BET's Sunday Best"

DOOLY COUNTY, Ga. -- BET's Sunday Best is set to air on Sunday, and one contestant is from Middle Georgia.

Armyia Bryant, also known as Myia B is a cardiac nurse by night and a singer-songwriter by day. Bryant was raised in the rural area of Dooly County, Georgia. Born to Arney Bryant and Lisa Bryant, she is the second of three girls.

With musical influences including Whitney Houston, R. Kelly, Le’Andria Johnson, Lauryn Hill, the Clark Sisters, Rod Stewart and her aunt, Amillia Woolfork-Williams, Bryant began singing at the tender age of six.

Bryant led her youth choir in her shy rendition of Bishop Jeff Banks and the Revival Temple Mass Choir’s "Whose Side Are You Leaning On?” In 2012, she sang with a southern gospel quartet group, No Measure. The group consisted of three other females, and grew much local acclaim. In 2016, the group dissipated after some members decided to go in different musical directions.

Soon after the group's split, Bryant grew a following by performing and videotaping her covers of prominent artists such as, the Williams Brothers "Still Here" and Le’Andria Johnson's "Deliver Me". Once, she spent $200 for home studio equipment and went on to record her first single "Spread Love". With just a hunch, she sent the unpolished single out to dozens of radio stations and DJs across the United States. "Spread Love" grabbed the attention of several different radio stations across the U.S. She says she began performing the song at local events and nightclubs which helped build her confidence in herself, as a lone performer.

As of this year, Bryant auditioned for Season 10 of BET’s Sunday Best, a competition for gospel singers. She is now a Top 20 Contestant! Auditions for the season were held in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as internationally in Lagos, Nigeria, London, England and Johannesburg, South Africa.

Bryant had the opportunity to audition in front of major celebrities, namely, Kelly Price (BET’s “American Soul”), Jonathan McReynolds and gospel great, Erica Campbell. Grammy Award-winning music legend Kirk Franklin is also returning as a host and mentor.

The season premiered on Sunday July 5 on BET. Bryant will perform on this Sunday, July 12 at 8 p.m.

Bryant describes herself as the representative for Georgia, and looks for your support during the show and as her musical career goes to another level. Her single "Spread Love" will soon be available on major musical platforms.

In addition, you can support Myia B by purchasing t-shirts here. When she is not writing and recording, she sings at events all over Georgia. Bryant hopes that this will be expanding nation- and worldwide. To book her for your next event, please contact her mother, Lisa Bryant at (229)-322-8999, or write her at myiabryant07@gmail.com. -
