Natalie Cris

Natalie Cris started making music once she started being a part of band in 6th grade, playing clarinet. Then started writing poems in 7th grade and by 8th grade she started writing songs and playing piano.

When Natalie Cris describes her music she says it’s her form of life expressions. Mainly for the women who love their independence. Women that know how to love you right, but will also happily stand on their own if you try to play them and do them wrong.

When it comes to her creative process it honestly varies. Sometimes music hits her while she’s talking to someone. It could literally be mid convo and something a person tells her makes her want to create it and implement it into her music. Other times, Natalie Cris will sit down to find a beat, and/or create a beat, or ride in her car with the radio off and sing to herself with voice memos that she can take to one of her producer friends.

Throughout Natalie Cris’s come up story she’s always known she’s wanted a life in music. When she was a kid, she knew all the songs on every station. She would dance and sing, then get her friends to learn the routines so they could do talent shows! Natalie Cris has been in girl groups, wrote the songs they’d sing and perform, then went on to independent writing and performing. She had 2 kids after graduating high school and put her life on hold for them because she wanted to make sure she was present. It wasn’t until she worked a contract in 2014 at Federal City in New Orleans, when her life changed. There was a Marine Corp Band at MARFORRES. Natalie Cris auditioned to sing with them and they put her on her first major stand at Champion Square for the Saints pregame show several years in a row. They also took her on a Christmas tour which was amazing! After that Natalie Cris knew she wanted to do music full time. She started recording an EP and released it in 2019, then she joined a band and eventually created her own band to perform around New Orleans. Everything else fell into place after that, the rest is history.

Natalie Cris always loved and has had a passion for music, the feelings, and emotions that come from it. When she was younger she didn’t really know how to express herself when someone did things that affected her, so she would write a song. Natalie Cris never wrote music for the intention to share. She wrote because it made her feel better after. Music has always been her therapy. Ever since she started to perform her own music, she realized that someone else in the world needs this just as much as she did. Now she welcomes more people to hear her world of music. It makes the vulnerability of self actually mean something more to her now.
