"Chelsea Conte - Paste Magazine"

"This Wilmington six-piece packs an impressive punch with a full-bodied sound recalling the Felice Brothers or a countrified Bright Eyes with a twinge of punk ... New Sweden’s sound is likable and sincere, perfect to warm your heart on a chilly day." - Chelsea Conte - Paste Magazine

"Philadelphia City Paper - John Vettese"

"Remember how The Avett Brothers used to pound whisky and tear out their banjo strings? When Wilmington's New Sweden take the stage, it's kinda like that. They inject bluegrass folk and country song structures with a healthy dose of rock 'n' roll mayhem — something you wouldn't necessarily guess from their tuneful 2011 debut The Mountain. Which is fine, and even admirable. The fivesome can exist in both worlds: one of staid traditionalism, delicate harmonies and affecting arrangements, and another of raucous revelers leading a sing-along at the bonfire at the end of the world." - John Vettese - Philadelphia City Paper

"Performer Magazine - Andrew Lapham Fersch"

"All the energy and potential that alt-country should offer" - Performer Magazine - Andrew Lapham Fersch

"Performer Magazine - Andrew Lapham Fersch"

"There are a slew of bands coming out these days that could be the next Mumford and Sons. Some are doing it better than others. Few, however, are showing a unique potential so early after their formation as Delaware's New Sweden."

- Andrew Lapham Fersch - Performer Magazine

"Live Praise at NON-COMM - WXPN's Dan Reed (May 13, 2011)"

"Major discovery from NON-COMM... They're from Wilmington, DE and they're called NEW SWEDEN..." - WXPN's Dan Reed, NON-COMMvention 2011 (May 13, 2011)

"Out & About Magazine - Michael Pollock"

"New Sweden writes songs that sound well beyond their 20-30 something age." - Out & About Magazine - Michael Pollock

Bio

Since forming in late 2009, the five-piece outfit, comprised of William Dobies, Jimmy Dukenfield, Dan Weirauch, Zac Dukenfield, and Chuck Knott, has been entertaining fans in the greater Philadelphia region and beyond. With sincere lyrics characteristic of Americana folk combined with the intense melodies of Indie-Rock, New Swedens sound is a distinct and complex fusion of raw emotion wrapped up and presented in an artful array of musical flair. Voted best band in Delaware for three consecutive years at the Tri-State Indie Music Awards, New Swedens sound has been described by WXPNs John Vetesse as an instantly like-able blend: a little bit of Bright Eyes, a little bit of The Avett Brothers, a little bit of The Clash. With a series of upcoming live shows, the band is eager to introduce audiences to their latest material from their forthcoming EP Fabric Room (due out July 15th), produced by Bill Moriarty (Dr. Dog, Hoots & Hellmouth, Man Man). Look for Fabric Room's first single, "Eighty Seven" to be released on May, 20, 2014.
